Welcome to our second international poetry reading night, Carmen!
This time, Carmen returns with the theme Nostalgia.

The word nostalgia comes from the Greek roots nostos, meaning “to return home,” and algia, meaning “ache” or “longing.” Nostalgia is the ache of wanting to return, to a place, a moment, a version of ourselves or to something greater we once felt whole within.
As 2025 approaches its end, this feels like a natural moment to look back. We invite you to a small and introspective poetry night where we reflect on the ideas of home, growth, identity, and change, what we carry with us, and what we leave behind.

About our project:  
We’re Hà Anh and Volha, the founders of Poetry Reading Hanoi. This project began as a spontaneous decision, sparked simply by a shared desire to find a place to read poetry together between two friends. After the warmth and passion of the first Carmen night, we waited for the right moment to return and here we are!!!
The name Carmen, from its Latin roots, means poetry. Through our occasional pop-up poetry reading nights in Hanoi, we invite you to celebrate the beauty of language, poetry, the human spirit, and life itself in all its quiet magic.

Chào mừng bạn đến với đêm đọc thơ tiếng Anh lần thứ hai của Carmen.
Lần trở lại này, Carmen mang theo chủ đề Nostalgia – Khao khát trở về.

Từ nostalgia bắt nguồn từ tiếng Hy Lạp, gồm nostos – “trở về nhà”, và algia – “nỗi đau” hay “khát khao”. Nostalgia là khao khát muốn được quay lại: một nơi chốn, một khoảnh khắc, một phiên bản của chính mình.

Năm 2025 đang dần khép lại, chúng mình mời bạn đến với một đêm đọc thơ nhỏ, chiêm nghiệm, nơi ta cùng suy ngẫm về khái niệm "nhà", về sự trưởng thành, bản sắc và sự đổi thay, về những gì ta mang theo, và những gì ta chọn bỏ lại phía sau. 


Về dự án:
Chúng mình là Hà Anh và Volha, những người sáng lập Poetry Reading Hanoi. Dự án bắt đầu từ một quyết định rất ngẫu hứng, xuất phát từ mong muốn đơn giản của hai người bạn: tìm một nơi để cùng nhau đọc thơ.

Tên Carmen của dự án bắt nguồn từ tiếng Latin, mang ý nghĩa là thơ ca. Thông qua những đêm đọc thơ pop-up tại Hà Nội, chúng mình mong muốn cùng bạn tôn vinh vẻ đẹp của ngôn ngữ, thơ ca, con người và cuộc sống - và sự diệu kỳ lặng lẽ của nó.

Hãy đến chia sẻ với chúng mình một câu chuyện của bạn qua một bài thơ nhé.
